Plot
Despicable Me 4 (2024) continues the story of Gru, who is now working as an Anti-Villain League agent while also managing his growing family. His life becomes more complicated with the arrival of Gru Jr., who does not easily bond with him.
When Gru’s old school rival, Maxime Le Mal, escapes from prison seeking revenge, Gru and his family are forced to relocate for safety. However, things quickly spiral out of control as the villain targets Gru’s family directly.
Meanwhile, the Minions get involved in a side experiment that gives them temporary superpowers, leading to chaotic and humorous situations. As danger increases, Gru must protect his family while dealing with a powerful new enemy.
Review
Acting Performance:
Steve Carell once again delivers a fun and consistent voice performance as Gru. Kristen Wiig adds strong comedic support, while Will Ferrell and Sofía Vergara bring energy to the villain roles.
Direction & Cinematography:
Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage maintain the colorful and fast-paced animation style the franchise is known for. The visual humor and Minion sequences remain the highlight.
Story & Screenplay:
The story is light, predictable, and follows the familiar formula of previous films. While entertaining, it doesn’t offer much new compared to earlier entries.
Music & Overall Impact:
The soundtrack is energetic and playful, matching the tone of the film, but it does not stand out independently.
Pros:
- Fun and family-friendly entertainment
- Strong comedic timing and Minion humor
- Visually vibrant animation
Cons:
- Predictable storyline
- Repetitive franchise formula
- Limited emotional depth
Final Verdict:
Despicable Me 4 (2024) is a fun and lighthearted animated film that continues the franchise’s tradition of comedy and chaos. While it doesn’t break new ground, it remains enjoyable for families and fans of the series.
